Its Monday of a new week, so I’d better do an update, taken from notes I made at the time.
Wednesday 22nd Sept
Right some more challenging stuff now, with compiling balance sheets and I gather Friday will see us fumbling around in the gloom that is double entry book-keeping. Now that’s something that’ll be good for the little grey cells, yackabakoo! About time. However, I’m seriously getting annoyed with a couple of the alleged students on the course, they don’t appear to have the application and willingness to study properly and the sooner the tutors sort them out the better. I just can’t work them out. The rest of the group seems to be all fine people who all want to be there on the course, but these two, I really can’t work out. Little application, not much attempt to follow or try to follow what is being explained, these two lads are on the way to Exitville. And I won’t shed a tear for them, as concentrating is hard enough with these two sat next to me as it is.
What is a surprise is that I might be able to pick and choose my Wednesday arvos. That’s timetabled as business English support, as I have English O Level from 1989 AND am a native speaker AND have been working in an admin role for long enough, it’s very likely that I do not need any English support. The tutors will discuss this. So I could well be using that time for extra study and homework time. I think I might well be the only one who will be allowed to be absent as most of the others students on the course do not have English as their primary language.
Friday 24th Sept
As predicted, today was indeed a foray into double entry book-keeping and it all seems OK. The presentation by tutor Derek was sound and made the following exercises not seem too daunting for us. I think I’m getting it and I will find out after the weekend when the homework exercises are assessed in class on Monday. Let’s see what’s what.
