January: the time of year when people resolve to change, to try and eradicate whatever shortcomings they perceive they have, in both little ways and big. Thankfully, this is not something I’ve ever considered; not because I feel I’m perfect and don’t need to change, but because I prefer to be myself, as I am.
Which is a slightly naïve Yorkshireman who’s not really suited to London life, as well as being rough around the edges, unsure of proper etiquette at times and with weird interests and hobbies. The way people act in the metropolis confuses me and makes me shake my head in bewilderment, making me feel somewhat out of step with the world.
However, I prefer to think it’s these quirks that define who and what I am. Trying to be improving myself would change who I am to lots of people, family and friends so I’ll stick to just being me, if you all don’t mind, thank you very much.
